vmware tools and Red Hat

http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_newguest_tools_linux.html

It is not as easy as it should be. One must edit /etc/inittab and set the run level to 3 so it will boot into text mode.

Next, after logging in, tell the VMWare machine to run vmware tools.

Then, read these directions very closely using the tar install.

Warez

I was reading up on Warez Servers and discovered...

http://www.dtdns.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=info.faq

...they look like a good dyanamic dns company sort of like dyndns and they have a work-around for ISP's that block port 80.

Some of the best search hits for "What is a Warez Server" on Yahoo are the following:

For IRC:

irc.quazie.net#xdcc-warezAll their servers are fast! I was downloading @ 120kb/sec without adrop on an 800 meg file (that's really good for IRC bots)

Beware! Verizon: Great saving on BroadbandAccess Package

Great saving on BroadbandAccess Package

Check out the "Easy Refund" link... Yeah, easy if you figure out that you've been had within 15 days. Your first bill won't arrive for 30 or 45 days and then you might have some surprises!

Why only 15 days? It has me wondering.

The catch, for me was that the card had to have a calling plan of its own in addition to my Verizon cell phone. Pretty soon you're spending a hundred dollars a month+ for Internet access. It's a great service, but make sure you know what the costs are going to be and that they make sense for you.

Security+

This week, I've been taking a Security+ boot camp. As important as security has been, in the DC area, COMPTIA has only one class going this month, at this one vendor. It is amazing that there are only three other students in the class.

Fellow students, Dave & Phil, pointed me to www.securitywizardry.com
